The stage is set for one of the biggest moments in jump racing as the curtain falls on four thrilling days at Cheltenham. All eyes are now on the Cheltenham Gold Cup, the ultimate prize for steeplechasers and a race that promises drama, excitement, and unforgettable moments.

Cheltenham Festival Finale: Gold Cup Takes Centre Stage

The final day of the Cheltenham Festival begins at 15h20, with the highlight being the legendary Gold Cup, widely regarded as the Holy Grail of jump racing.

This year’s race looks wide open, with 11 runners lining up and several strong contenders capable of lifting the famous trophy.

One runner attracting attention is Jango Baie, who previously finished behind The Jukebox Man and Gaelic Warrior in the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day. Despite being slightly outpaced early in that race, he rallied strongly and looks well suited to the stamina test Cheltenham demands.

Trained by Nicky Henderson, Jango Baie is already 2-for-2 at Cheltenham, including last year’s Arkle victory, making him a fascinating contender in today’s feature.

Graded Races Build Up to the Gold Cup

Before the Gold Cup showdown, the day’s action features three graded races, including:

  • Triumph Hurdle
  • Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle

Both races could see powerhouse trainer Willie Mullins add more Cheltenham success to his remarkable record.

Cheltenham Highlight: Il Etait Temps Victory

One of the standout moments of this year’s Cheltenham Festival came when IL ETAIT TEMPS, owned by Hollywood Racing & Barnane Stud and partners, delivered a superb performance in the BetMGM Queen Mother Champion Chase.

The victory secured trainer Willie Mullins’ third win on day two of the festival, showcasing the horse’s exceptional class and determination.

South African racing fans proudly celebrated as the “Iron Horse” powered to a career-defining Grade 1 victory.
